Circuits and Electronics

Course Objectives

The aims of this course:

  • To introduce the basic concepts of circuits and electronics in the field of computer technology.
  • To explain the design and function of electronic circuits and components.
  • To covers electronic circuit components, DC analysis, and AC analysis.
  • To design and construct circuits, take measurements of circuit behavior andperformance, compare with predicted circuit models and explain discrepancies.

Learning Objectives

The successful completion of this course, Student will be able to:

  • Identify linear systems and represent those systems in schematic form.
  • Explain precisely what the fundamental circuit variables mean and why the fundamental laws governing them are true.
  • Apply Kirchhoff’s current and voltage laws, Ohm’s law, and the terminal relations describing inductive and capacitive energy-storage elements to circuit problems.
  • Simplify circuits using series and parallel equivalents and using The’ venin and Norton Equivalents.
  • Perform nod and loop analyses and set these up in standard matrix format.
  • Explain the physical underpinnings of capacitance and inductance.
